Find my assets

Yes, a forgotten 2nd pillar can almost always be found, and the search is free. In Switzerland, more than CHF 13 billion in LPP assets lie dormant in accounts their holders have lost track of. Your assets are never lost: they can be located and recovered, even 10, 20 or 30 years later. Here is how to find them.

What is a forgotten 2nd pillar?

Every time you change jobs, your occupational pension (LPP) assets must be transferred to the pension fund of your new employer. If you leave a position without immediately joining another (unemployment, self-employment, a career break, moving abroad, maternity), your assets are transferred to a vested benefits account. Without instructions from you, they often end up in a default holding foundation and stay there, forgotten, earning a very low return.

Why are so many LPP assets forgotten?

Careers are increasingly mobile: several employers, periods abroad, transitions. At every break, a transfer can be overlooked. The result: around 1.3 million accounts lie dormant in Switzerland. Most people simply do not realise that part of their retirement savings has been left behind.

How can you find your LPP assets?

Tracking down scattered assets, then consolidating and transferring them, involves precise administrative steps. We take care of everything for you, from A to Z. We identify your forgotten assets, we guide you through consolidating them in a suitable vested benefits account, and we manage the transfer. The search is free of any commitment, and a human adviser calls you back.

3 steps, we handle everything

  1. You fill in the form (2 min). We launch the search for your assets.
  2. We find and consolidate. We identify your forgotten assets and bring them together in a suitable long-term vested benefits account.
  3. We manage the transfer for you. Every step from A to Z, with no paperwork. You take back control.

Finding them is not enough: put your capital to work

A “default” vested benefits account earns on average ~0.08% per year. Over 10 or 20 years, that means tens of thousands of francs in lost growth, while the pension funds’ benchmark indices (Pictet LPP, UBS Pension Funds, Swisscanto) return 3 to 4% per year. Once your assets have been found, consolidating them in a securities strategy compliant with OPP 2 radically changes the trajectory of your capital.

Special cases

Cross-border workers and leaving Switzerland: depending on your destination and your status, part of your assets may be paid out. The rules differ for the mandatory and extra-mandatory portions, and personalised advice helps you avoid costly mistakes.

Withdrawal from age 60: with a vested benefits account, the capital can be paid out up to 5 years before the reference age, or deferred. You stay in control.

In the event of death: unlike a pension fund, the capital in a vested benefits account is passed on in full to your beneficiaries.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to find a forgotten 2nd pillar?

The search can take a few weeks. With our support, you save time on identification and, above all, on consolidation.

Is the search really free?

Yes, the search for your assets is free and without obligation. Our remuneration comes from the LPP vested benefits foundations that delegate the advisory role to us, so we can guide you through the process and support you.

Why is my AVS number needed?

Your AVS number is the key that makes it possible to identify your pension assets. It is transmitted securely, used solely for your search, and never sold on.

Can very old assets still be recovered?

Yes. Your LPP assets can be claimed many years later. The sooner you act, the sooner your capital starts working again.
